A New Year, a new house and a new blog!

There have been a lot of changes in the household over the past few weeks. We have moved states… which really isn’t all that far only about 350 kms or so. I have had to move jobs… another year, another school… and I have made the switch from Blogger to WordPress.

I hope that if you were one of my Blogger readers you are going to click over here as well!
To celebrate, I am going to be having a houseworming/blogwarming in the next couple of weeks… date to be determined! Watch this (and that) space! Details are being sorted as I type!

Until the move to the new blog is warmed... I will continue to blog at both... cut and paste is my friend!

The new blog is... http://katiequiltssometimes.wordpress.com/

Merry Christmas to all...

This really is a special time of year.

There is so much hope and promise with the New Year just around the corner... as well as nostalgia for the things which have occurred and changed over the past twelve months. It also seems, as my Grandmother says, that it seems just like we get up from the table of one Christmas dinner and we are seated at the next... In other words, time flies!

So if, like me, you see Christmas as a time of family and sharing rather than for the traditional religious reasons, I hope that the day has bought you peace and joy. And for those who are celebrating the traditional Christmas, God bless and be with you and your family.

OMG!!! It has been a month!

I can't believe that it has been a month since I last posted... and that it has also possibly been that long since I have quilted.

The move is now in full swing, Chris and the boys have moved ahead of me and have apparently unpacked the house, although I am pretty sure that I will be spending the next month getting everything where it actually needs to be. I am still in Canberra, and will be until the end of the week.

I have a job at the new location. I am unsure as to whether or not I actually want it, I was planning on taking a year off from full-time teaching to complete my masters, but a job is a job - and lets face it I have to pay for the masters (and the quilting) somehow!!

Also WATCH THIS SPACE... I am planning a Virtual House Warming in the New Year... when it is hot and lazy (well at least for those of us "Down Under")

What is in a name?

I really do need to retitle this blog to... and really I never quilt.

The past weeks have been hectic to say the least. The move is looming, reports are being written and I have developed something of an iPhone addiction. I love gadgets. Quilting ones, technology ones, you name it, I love it. My phone is my baby.

For those who have been wondering, the Halloween party happened. I was going to do the Kylie Mole thing but I ran out of time to get organised. So I wacked on a blonde wig and decided I was Barbie. Not quite Comic Genius, but it was all I could manage in a hurry. I have to admit, it looked pretty funny, and the cat didn’t respond well to the wig – she destroyed it. The party was great!

I am planning the next set of ATCs which will be sent out to the group in the next week or so. I have all of the bits I need. The theme is Gold and White Christmas... I am going to make presents, complete with little tags. When I am going to have a chance to make these latest creations I have absolutely no idea, I am booked pretty solid, but I suppose I will just have to find the time. And this time I promise I will remember to take photos of them!

I am going to try and blog a bit more this week... perhaps I could do that from my iPhone... why didn’t I think of that sooner?

And sometimes I get a bit busy...

Things are getting rather busy here at the Sometimes I quilt desk.

Moving day is getting ever closer, only a few weeks away. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Cas and the boys will be heading south before me and I will be moving to “Party central” (a friend’s house) so that I can see out the last of the school term. So Cas and the boys will be making the decisions about where the furniture goes and all of the rest of it, without me.

This could be a problem.

The really interesting thing is that Cas isn’t the best in the kitchen, he does toast and that is about it. So he has decided that it would be best if he get a BBQ, because he can apparently do that. I will wait and see. If all else fails The Suj can cook a little bit and there is always McDonalds...

On the work front things are very busy. We are almost half way through the final term of the year – so final reports are being written and teachers are stressed about everything. Add to that – I need to find a new job. As was pointed out to me through the week, not finding a job straight away could mean more time for sewing, perhaps a few weeks sitting at home... stitching... meeting Dad for coffee... could be nice. But, the money would be nicer.

On the whole quilting front... I made some ATCs this morning. They were my first effort, and I forgot to take some photos of them before I put them in the post box ready for their new owners. I have also started a new project, a stitchery and quilting one. It is from an American magazine Better Homes and Gardens 'Holiday Craft', but a design by an Australian designer, one of my favourites – Anni Downs. I have a couple of Anni’s books and always intend to make a couple of her quilts but finally I am actually making something of hers. It is a Christmas wall hanging, and whether it is ready for Christmas this year remains to be seen, but you never know your luck.
As for the party... hasn’t happened yet. It had to be postponed due to a family emergency, apparently it is on this Friday and I may have some photos... more suggestions please, although I am rather taken with the whole idea of Kylie Mole – it was soooo funny.
Oh they were the days... ahhh youth!

I am also the proud owner of an iPhone... and it is love. More on that later.
Update: the pictured quilt is the original, from the current issue of (U.S.) Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Craft. I hope mine is as good as Anni's. Sorry if there has been any confusion.
